MAP Energy
Powered Land Development
Identifying, securing and de-risking grid-connected land — the scarcest asset in UK energy development.
The capability
Power availability now decides where energy-intensive development happens. Land with a credible route to capacity has become an asset class in its own right, and it is valued on evidence.
MAP consultants assess land through the lens that matters: what capacity can genuinely be delivered here, by when, and at what cost. That means reading network constraints, connection queue dynamics and substation headroom alongside the conventional tests of title, access and planning prospects. A site marketed as powered is worth little if the connection behind it cannot survive scrutiny.
We work for both sides of the market — landowners and promoters proving what they hold, and occupiers or investors testing what they are being sold. In each case the output is the same: a position on power that can be defended in a transaction.
How MAP delivers it
Powered land work runs from single-site appraisal to portfolio origination.
Site identification and screening
Origination of grid-connected opportunities against defined power, planning and locational criteria — filtered hard before money is spent.
Power position appraisal
Independent assessment of a site's connection status: agreements held, queue standing, network constraints and the realistic path to energisation.
Securing and structuring
Support on options, promotion agreements and acquisition structures that tie land control to the connection milestones that give it value.
De-risking for transaction
Assembly of the technical evidence pack — grid, planning, utilities and constraints — that lets a powered site trade at its proper value.
