Technical Due Diligence

Buy-side, sell-side and lender due diligence on energy projects and pipelines — testing what the papers claim against what the project can deliver.

The capability

Every project looks fundable in its own data room. Due diligence exists to find the version of the project that survives contact with the grid, the planning system and the build.

MAP consultants review projects and pipelines for acquirers, vendors and lenders. The examination is practical: does the connection agreement say what the teaser says it says; are milestones and securities achievable; does consented capacity match contracted capacity; are land agreements long enough and wide enough for what will actually be built; and does the programme hold when its assumptions are stress-tested one by one.

The recurring red flags are familiar to anyone who has done this work — lapsed or fragile queue positions, planning conditions that quietly constrain the design, optimistic energisation dates, land options approaching expiry. Our reports name them plainly and rank them by consequence, so the transaction team can price, fix or walk away.

How MAP delivers it

Due diligence scopes flex from red-flag review to full technical examination.

Buy-side review

Independent examination of grid, land, consents and programme for acquirers — findings ranked by impact on value and deliverability.

Sell-side preparation

Vendor-side review that finds the weaknesses before bidders do, and structures the technical data room around evidence rather than assertion.

Lender and investor reports

Technical adviser reporting for debt and equity providers, written to the standard a credit committee will actually rely on.

Pipeline and platform assessment

Portfolio-level review of development pipelines — grading each project's maturity honestly rather than averaging the story across the platform.
